Two cats

Okay, so since my last attempt at cat blogging was a turkey (literally!)...

Mencken and the Mighty Fang hanging out in the hallway, wondering why their penguin is flashing lights at them.

A dark photo with a black cat in it is perfect for Friday the 13th, doncha think?!

I allow my five kittens to come and go as they please. It is the best way to stay friends with them.

Mimus, I don't think you'd even *see* Fang in a dark alley (heh!).

Blue, just a second before the camera finally flashed, the two kitties had come up to where I was lying on the floor to investigate the odd sight of a penguin lying on their floor, and the black one had turned to the grey and white one and started licking his face. It was this which I was trying to photograph as a closeup of two furry kitty faces looking happy and cuddly and friendly. Alas, when the red light came on and the pre-flash (for the red-eye correction which is *not* needed in black-and-white mode but grr stupid camera did it anyhow) flashed they looked up and seperated a little. Still, I like the resulting somewhat ominous-looking photo, even if it isn't as sweet and cuddly as the photo I'd hoped to take... I even like the fact that it's in black and white (done because I managed to screw up a setting on my camera, but hey, sometimes even your screwups are serendipitous).

The secret of doing anything right is to do it a *lot* of times, and then throw away your mistakes that didn't work and then claim the mistakes that did work as proof of your genius. Sort of like the secret of cooking, except that with a digital camera, you don't end up having to clean dirty pots :-).

Wonderful shot. Mine just glare at me when I take the camera. Or they just stop whatever is they were doing and look like blobs. My cats are quite active but you wouldn't think that from the photos.
