Badtux the Snarky Penguin

In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

Religious fundamentalists are motivated by the sneaking suspicion that someone, somewhere, is having fun -- and that this must be stopped.

I feel safer...

because Dear Leader and His holy administration protected me by torturing a 78-year-old half-blind paralyzed man.

Yeah, that really makes me feel safer!

Sda Bad Tux, yet there is a cross section of people in this country that do not care, either because they wish harm upon all that are different to some degree or they simply are apathetic.

I didn't know about him, that is so sick on so many levels. They must really hate us over there, and I don't blame them.

Of course, a lot of them aren't nice either.

I hope you get some humor everyday Tux.

Ole blue the heretec: I think some are leaning toward becoming apathetic. It is all just getting to be too much, too much we cannot do anything about and too much to keep from vomiting out all the lies we are constantly being fed. Torture is wrong anytime anywhere.

bbc: Yes it is sick, worse than sick.

Right, worse than sick.

Dude, I really hate us and I'm right here.

78 year old half blind paralyzed men can be very fiendish in their alquaida planning, doncha know?

I know.. not a joking matter, really.

OWL, I disagree. For instance if he were to take The White House Tour and then "wander off" on his own, there's no telling what sort of mayhem he could inflict on the Lincoln Bedroom with that walker of his.

Clarke: "Dude, I really hate us and I'm right here."

I don't share this sentiment, at least not completely. But believe me, I understand it.

We've always had a certain segment of the public who are oozing with meanness and fear, full of jealousy, and guided by racism and authoritarianism. Most of them had parents who beat the sh** out of them, more out of rage than a desire to correct them, and most of the ones who have kids are now doing it to theirs.

It's not just us. I know that-- other countries have that too. A slimy, undereducated underbelly to their society, like ours has.

But until fairly recently, our underbelly wasn't in charge.

Bush junior is a patrician who rebelled against his background and decided the mouthbreathers were "his people", and that he would show the world he was smarter and more vital than his dad.

Instead, he's shown the world the wisdom of George Senior's decision to pull out of Iraq after securing Kuwait. Not a very comforting irony, considering how many people had to die to demonstrate it to the world, but there it is.

Oh yes, people, half-crippled men wielding crutches are fearsome specimens. Especially the ones with terrible eyesight -- it's amazing how much damage you can do when you don't have to look at the results of your actions. Code Red! Run!

It took several YEARS to find out the evidence in his case was "blurry". Wonder if they are making any progress in determining whether other cases should proceed... FIVE years later.

I have no doubt whatsoever that on an given day IN ANY COUNTRY things go on that an average citizen would not condone. Particularly with the United States it is so fricken easy to find apparently glaring examples if one looks hard enough. So groups with whatever agenda can sift through the good and the bad and pick out what they want to highlight and focusing ONLY ON THAT they can make their whole case. If they want to then they can find some apparent innocents that were apparently mal treated and then characterize U.S. government as 100% wrong and the people highlighted as 100% Right. And then anyone having no conscience or scruples will gladly embrace the reports complete with implications but ONLY if it fits with THEIR OWN AGENDA. And see that is why I can never swallow ANY commentary (no matter even if it aligns more to my views) when objectivity is obviously missing. It takes about two seconds to see the whole gist of a person's intent ... just as soon as I note the sarcasm and anger it is almost guaranteed to be a totally biased and unreliable source. This is one sin sick world and NONE of us are innocent! We OUGHT to be striving for TRUTH rather than to just single out players just because they are more on top of the brawl! There is no solution in lies and half truths; all it does is stir up hatred on ALL sides! Yes it really DOES! You THINK you fight back by putting the shoe on the other foot and thinking "well those guys LIE and so how can anyone blame us if we characterize things out of whack somewhat? The end justifies the means! But it does not because emotional people buy what you sell and are further stirred to hatred while equally wrong headed emotionally driven on the "other side" are easily noticing the half truth, under informing, sensational thinly disguised HATERED they see ... so HOW IN THE HECK is anyone HELPING a dang thing? It's nothing but pot stirring when all is said and done. Why not at least ATTEMPT to understand ALL the forces at work rather than ONLY focusing on some of the greedy influences or prejudice? People are people and we find exactly the same motivations on the other side of every fence. Before judgment day, tell it all.
