Sleeping in cars in Seattle
These are the hidden homeless, those well off enough (have a job) to keep gas in their cars, but not able to afford an apartment on wages of $7 per hour or less, and making too much money for the homeless shelters. So at night they drive around, find a place to park their car where hopefully nothing will happen to them, and go to sleep.
And it's not news.
Which, perhaps, epitomizes the supposed "economic recovery" that the Busheviks have been touting lately. It's an "economic recovery" if you are a millionaire business owner. If you're a kid in Mandeville, or a guy working at a coffee shop in Seattle, why, you don't count in Bushevik America... heck, you don't even exist. After all, you've never attended any of George W. Bush's campaign fundraisers, so who are you, anyhow?!

News is only sensational if people want to see it; otherwise people will ignore it because that ain't 'merika.

There, but for the grace of God.....
I was actually considering this about 12 years ago, when my ex wasn't paying child support, and I ran out of rent money. There are a whole group of oldsters in the LA area who know all the legal overnight parking spots, and pull their camper over for the night. Go to a campground once a week to fill up the water and dump the waste, and charge your batteries. Very cheap living.

Bah, these people are homeless because they lack entrepreneurial spirit. Why, think of the amount of money they're losing by not letting this guy tape advertising slogans to their cars like he does to panhandler's signs! "Bumvertising" will be one of the biggest growth industries in our new, faith-based economy!
All kidding aside, the school I work at in Seattle caters to homeless families, and most of the parents to whom we have to give emergency rental assistance already have jobs, but still can't afford to keep a roof over their heads. It's sickening that nobody seems to give a shit.

Man, that would be awful. Trying to hold a job while living out of your car. Trying to hold body and soul together and show up at work without anybody catching on.

My stepsister died sleeping in a car in Olympia, Washington. It was a cold night, and she and her boyfriend turned on the engine to keep warm. Carbon Monoxide leaked into the passenger cabin and killed her.
